Paint Safety & Disclaimer

We understand that everyone is different, and results may vary from person to person, depending on the application. We strive to express proper application; however, instructions are only sometimes followed accordingly. Sometimes the universe is not on our side, and things work out as we plan. That is the beauty of paint. We get to start over and try again.

Improper technique may give varied results.

We are collecting and creating data to help inform customers of helpful methods to complete projects daily. Posting and tagging Velvet Finishes with your creations is most beneficial.

We strongly recommend testing your methods before painting.

 Colour Accuracy

Some of our colours represented online and in our promotional materials could have been rendered digitally and may be different when applied to your project. The actual colour of the applied paint will vary based on several factors, including lighting, finish, top coat, and medium.

We recommend testing the paint in a small area of your project or a non-exposed surface before painting to see the final result.

No Liability

Kilton L.L.C. Velvet Finishes and its affiliates assume no liability whatsoever for losses or damages, including property damage, which results from misuse of its products, including improper technique or failure to test methods and colour accuracy before painting.

Our products have been tested extensively, and all the results tell us that our paints are safe for regular and decorative use on furniture.

Children should be limited to exposure to chemicals of any kind without proper ventilation and safety equipment, regardless of ratings. Our paints are low risk and a safe alternative than most; however, we recommend that you do your research before using them on objects that children will use daily.

For those who are pregnant

If you are pregnant or nursing, please do not use our products. There is insufficient conclusive data to guarantee safe use while pregnant or nursing. We recommend you consult your physician before using our products or any others while pregnant or nursing.

Spraying Velvet Finishes paint

Our products are safe in liquid form, but when sprayed, they can be broken down into small enough molecules to be inhaled, which can have adverse health effects. Wear eye and mask protection when spraying.

Sanding

WARNING! Removal of old paint by sanding,

Scraping or other means may generate dust or fumes that contain lead. Exposure to lead dust or fumes may cause brain damage or other adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances requires the use of proper protective equipment, such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved), and proper containment and cleanup. For more information, call the National Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD (in US) or contact your local health authority.
